Where did July go?

I cannot believe its already August. Please forgive me for the lack of blogging! We have had a busy month! Before we left for Southlake we took an adventure around Lubbock with our friends the West's. We went to the Lubbock Lake Landmark where they are continuously doing digs for dinasour remains. The apple orchard to pick some apples which is on my bucketlist, unfortunately they did not have any apples to pick because the freeze in late March killed their trees. Then we went to the Llano winery and did a tour/taste. Lubbock has 5 wineries and we want to go to all of them! You just can't do it all in one day. We had a blast with Logan and Courtney driving around Lubbock!

Zane and I took our vacation at the end of July. We left bright and early, 6:30am to be exact, on a Sunday morning and made it to Southlake by lunch time. Which was great beacuse of course we headed straight to Johnny B's, always delicious. We stayed in Southlake for 5 days. While we were there we went to a Rangers game and got to watch batting practice on the field. Zane was in heaven and I wasn't complaining either. We celebrated my mom's 30th birthday (i love you mom), hung out in the pool, went to dinner with the college crew and caught up with some of my high school friends. We got to see a lot of people that we miss dearly, but we did not see everyone. I'm sorry if we didn't get to see you!

We left Southlake and headed Southband 35. We got to New Braunfels that evening after dealing with Austin traffic, awful. We had rented a few cabins with 7 other couples to float the river and enjoy the hill country. Thursday night we headed to the oldest dance hall in Texas, Gruene Hall. No one was playing but we still had a great time. Friday we split up, most of the girls went to Austin to shop and the rest of us went to Shiner, TX to do the tour of the Shiner brewery. It was not worth it. Shiner is a cute little town with not much going on besides the brewery. The tour itself was about 5 mintues long and you get a 2 oz taster of one of their beers. Don't get me wrong i'm glad we went but I won't go again. That night we headed back to Gruene to eat at the famous Gristmill restaurant. The entire restaurant seats about 500 people and is all outside. Then it was Saturday. TIME TO FLOAT THE RIVER! The river was low and we had to paddle a bit but we never had to walk. What was advertised as a 3 hour float ended up being a 5 hour float. We had a blast just lounging in the water and not having a care in the world. A few of the people we went with ended up continuing on the river and had an 8 hour float! That night we stayed at the cabins and cooked hot dogs, everyone was pretty tired so we all crashed early. The next day everyone left and we headed to San Marcos to hit up the outlet malls. After shopping for a few hours we went and had lunch with Zane's sister Robin in Kyle and visited with her for a little while. It was too short Robin! Then we hit the road back to Lubbock. Tour de Texas, as i've been calling it because we made a big circle. It was a great trip!

Warning: Lots of Pictures...not in the right order.
