Part 4: Engaged

Zane had spent Thanksgiving with my family and little did I know - Zane had asked my dad for permission to marry me while we were on that trip. My dad gave him the advice to wait a little bit before proposing but Zane didn't listen...

On December 23rd, 2005- Zane was at practice. We had both just graduated from College a week earlier. I wasn't sure where I was going to work and I knew that we would be heading out of town for Christmas in a few days. I was cleaning up around the house and I found a receipt from one of the jewelry stores we had looked at, of course me being a girl and curious...I opened it. Sure enough it was for a ring! He came home that evening, took a quick shower and said "why don't we go look at rings tonight?", I didn't have the heart to tell him that I knew what was going on.

We pulled up to the Jewelry store right before they were closing so there was no one there. We went in and started looking at the rings like we always did, Zane pointed to one and said what about that one. I said "it's gorgeous" so the jeweler brought it out for me to try on, perfect fit. He shared with me one of the unique qualities of the design is that on the band there is a little diamond surrounded by a gold heart that is engraved with "Love you forever" that you can only see with a strong magnifying glass. While I was looking into the magnifying glass Zane got down on one knee, when I turned around he asked me to marry him. Of course I said yes!

Overjoyed!
The jewelers were in on it and were taking pictures the whole time. There were flowers and a bottle of wine. Afterwards we went over to his parents house where they were waiting for us along with Robin and Tommy. We had a few glasses of wine and then headed out to dinner, the same restaurant that we had our first date-Orlando's where our friends were waiting for us to celebrate!
