It has taken me a few days to really comprehend what is going on and my mind is still racing. My world was shaken up on Sunday. While I was getting ready to go have lunch at Johnny B's one last time and then hitting the road back to Lubbock my mom came into my room and said "I need to talk to you about something" which is never good. She began to tell me that she had a routine scope done, which is normal for her since she had colon cancer 20 years ago and they removed the majority of her large intestine.
She said that they found a tumor. A tumor where they left some of her intestine from the first surgery. The doctors told her that it is too big to do surgery on right now so she will have to go through 5 weeks of radiation and chemo to shrink it. Once it shrinks they can have the surgery to remove it. My Mom contniued to reassure me that it is treatable. She already has the port in her chest where the chemo and radiation will go, she will have to go for 10 minutes a day Monday-Friday. She will start the radiation on Monday October 25th and the Chemo will be after that.
Please pray for my beautiful Mom, for her strength and for her healing. She is a VERY strong woman and I know that she will get through this like she has before.
I love you Mom!
