Work Trip

It's taken a while for me to actually work up the courage to even write a post about this because I have so much anxiety about it. Next week, Tuesday-Friday i'll be in San Marcos for work. The longest i've been away from Presley. One of my personal struggles with being a full time worker and not a stay at home mom was knowing that I would have to travel. This trip happens to fall on the first week of two a days for Zane. The WORST possible time for me to be out of town. I've been so stressed for the past month. Zane is going to have to do everything, on top of working his ridiculous 16+ hours a day. We are lucky that Zane's parents live here and are able to help but his mom just had shoulder surgery and I just feel awful to put it on her when she isn't supposed to lift anything. Of course she doesn't mind. We are thankful that they are here! I'm dreading it. I have a lump in my throat just typing this. I have to keep telling myself that everything will work out and that it will all be ok. I just hate to put Zane in that position. He assures me that he can do it. Bleh. And I know I'm going to miss her so much.

Since i'm new to the whole working and having kids world I was just curious if there are any general/understood rules about employees not being able to make a work trip due to your kids/spouse schedules. What is normal protocol for work trips? There is a possibility that Zane and I will both be asked to be out of town at the same time for work. I wasn't consulted when this trip was booked, in fact I was on Maternity leave. Everyone else in my office has school aged children and spouses that work normal hour jobs. What do people do in those situations?

My brother and his wife go through some of the same thing. Her Mom is nearby, but can't always help. Start the search now for very good friends or overnight sitters for emergencies.
You can do it little Mommy! Leslie

Taylor and I are always here to help if you need it. I didn't find this out until not too long ago, but apparently Taylor used to babysit all the time in Southlake haha! He's got baby fever right now, so some Presley bonding time might quell those feelings :) Thinking of you friend!
