Helicopter ride

Riding in a Helicopter has been on my bucketlist for a long time. I didn't know where, when or how I would get to but I knew that it was something I needed to do to cross it off of my list. Well a few months ago Wally from Skyview Helicopters (www.skyviewhelicopters.net) came by our offices and said he wanted to take whoever was interested on a ride to show us what he can offer our office. Well of course I jumped at the chance.

I woke up at 5am on Wednesday and made it out to Wally's house in Shallowater around 6:30am to take off before sunrise. It was a calm morning, Thank god. I'm not going to lie I was a little anxious. We took off right as the sun started to rise, the sun is so beautiful in West Texas because there is nothing in it's way. We went towards the South Loop and headed towards the Cap Rock. Once we got off the plateau into the cap rock itself...it was beautiful! Since Lubbock has had so much rain all the trees were green and the animals were out. We saw deer, horses and cows just wandering down in the cap rock. Most people don't know it's there because there is no easy way to get to it. Once we went through the cap rock we headed towards buffalo springs lake, down town Lubbock and Texas Tech and then headed home.

We were in the air for about an hour and a half. It was hands down one of the most amazing things i've done. I'm not a very good writer but Lubbock really is a very beautiful place and it breaks my heart when people say that its not. If you get a chance to take a helicopter ride over Lubbock, do it! You will see it in a whole new light and hopefully enjoy it more. I took about 80 pictures and obviously can't post them all on here. But here are a few of Texas Tech, me with the helicopter and buffalo springs lake.

I'm glad you got to do that. I've flown over Lubbock several times in small planes with my husband or brother-in-law (they are both pilots). It's neat to see Lubbock from that perspective.

My only helicopter ride was over Kilauea volcano on the Big Island of Hawaii! That was amazing!
