I have touched before on how I haven't really ever had issues with my weight. I'm not exactly happy with it but it hasn't been my main concern. I haven't watched the scale every moment or counted calories. I think since I was called skelator and fiddle-sticks in high school it didn't bother me when I gained my "freshman 15" or my "happy weight" or my "baby weight". But the problem is that 10 years later the Freshman 15 and happy weight are still here, on top of the baby weight.
When I started working at the daycare I noticed that I had lost a few pounds just from moving around more than I had at my previous job. Then my gym membership was up and I just couldn't fathom signing a new 2 year contract when I never went. Yea, it was great that they had a daycare and some great classes but nothing that I couldn't do at home. I actually have the time now to work out but no gym membership. I decided that I wanted to start running. I've been talking about it for over a year, i've had the urge to just run but didn't know where to start.
I saw a few friends using the "Couch to 5K" app. Basically a training tool to race in a 5K. I don't necessarily want to run in a 5K but who knows maybe one day I will. I am happy to say that I have continued to run 3 times a week for the past three weeks! I really enjoy it and force myself to take the 30 minutes to myself. I'm not good at it and it's hard but so worth it when i'm done.
Since April I have lost 10 pounds and kept it off! I think it was the jump-start I needed to keep it going. I'm still not dieting because frankly I just love food too much to starve myself but I am making better choices, watching my portions, not eating out, not drinking soda and finally running!
